Latest news

We have had a good start to our new shooting year. The scores for last week have been updated. It was a glorious day but conditions got quite bad as the sun began to head towards the horizon around 3.30. Thanks to all our members who have put it a great effort to make our first two weeks of duty club a success. It really helps having everyone pull their weight. It would be great to see some more of our members come and shoot – we really miss you. This Sunday we have the prestigious Joso teams match at Hornsby on Sunday. This is a match between the North Shore District Rifle Association and other DRA’s. The NSDRA will be fielding 2 full bore and 1 f class teams and will be competing against MDRA and HVDRA , there will be 2 school teams also competing against each other. Come along and support the DRA and particularly Cathy (full bore) and Michael (F Class).

Doug King Masters Invitational Shoot 2012

On Sunday 24th June 2012 Hornsby Rifle Club held their annual Doug King Masters, Captains and KPC F Class shoot in conjuction with an invitation shoot. It was a cool but fine day and we were lucky to be able to borrow Roseville Rifle Club’s HEXTA Electronic targets for the shoot. The shoot was 2 sighters and 10 counting shots over distances of 600m, 500m and 300m and 12 shooters participated. The Doug King Master’s has been a prestigious event on our calender for over 34 years, for the top shooters in the club,  and this year it was won by our current club champion Cathy Burnitt with a score of 147.13 from Alan Ashworth on 146.16 and Geoff King on 145.11. The Captains Trophy is another of our long standing prestigious trophies and is competed for by our top B and C graders and  this year was won by Ian White with a score of 133.05. The Ku-Ring-Gai Pistol Club has very generously donated a trophy to HRC for our top F Class shooters and this was the inaugural year with the winner being Andrew Beavis with score of 175.14. News from HRC from 24th March 2012

Last Saturday the 24th March was the Arn Hammond 700m match. We were able to field all 3 of our teams – thanks to those members who made themselves available. The scores for our teams were as follows:-

Hornsby No 1 Phil Milan 70.11, Cathy Burnitt 70.6, Alan Ashwoth 69.8, Jeff Burnitt 69.7, Geoff King 69.6, John-Ross Mitchell 68.12

Hornsby No 2 Doug Rawson-Harris 69.3, Jim Thompson 67.5, Peter Allman 67.3, David Rodgers 62.6, Tim Robinson 62.1, John Allman 55.0

Hornsby F Class Standard Andrew Beavis 83.4, Ron 80.6, Michael Moss 78.0, Gavin Mitchell 75.2.

Our F Class Standard topped the range for the day – great shooting from the whole team. Our No 1 Full Bore team was a very close second to Roseville RC No 1 team on the day being pipped by 1 centre. It was a great effort from our No 1 team given we had a few dramas to contend with. There was also some outstanding shooting from our No 2 team shooters.

We all enjoyed afternoon tea supplied by our members who excelled themselves again.
